HER DEBUT ALBUM ANIMAL HAS BEEN CERTIFIED PLATINUM IN THE U.S BY THE RIAA AND HAS SOLD OVER 2 MILLION UNITS WORLDWIDE
(New York - NY) – Worldwide pop phenom and singer/songwriter Ke$ha continues her 2010 domination. Her debut album Animal (RCA Records / Kemosabe Entertainment) has been certified platinum by the RIAA in the U.S. less than 10 months after release and has sold over 2 million units worldwide. Earlier this month Ke$ha became the 11th solo female artist to collect at least four Billboard Hot 100 Top 10s from a debut album when her current single "Take It Off" catapulted up the chart. She has sold over 13 million combined tracks and ringtones in the U.S alone to date and 15 million worldwide, including her smash breakthrough single "TiK ToK' which has sold over 8.5 million combined units. Additionally, in the US alone, "TiK ToK" has been certified 5x platinum, "Your Love Is My Drug" has been certified 2x platinum and "Blah Blah Blah" and "Take It Off" have been certified platinum. Ke$ha is an international powerhouse, Animal has been certified Gold or Platinum in six markets and is the biggest selling debut album from an international female in 2010 in the UK. Ke$ha, who was just nominated for 2 EMA's, has sold over 3 million tracks outside of the U.S, and nearly 1 million albums.
Back in January Animal catapulted to the top of the Billboard Top 200 chart, debuting in the #1 position. It also debuted at #1 on the Digital Albums Chart, and set the record for the best ever digital album sales for a new artist and is the 3rd biggest digital album debut by a female, coming in right after Taylor Swift and Britney Spears. It also marks the biggest first week for an artist's debut album released in January in SoundScan history. Ke$ha also became also the first artist since Leona Lewis’ debut in 2008 to have a #1 debut album AND a #1 debut single.
Ke$ha kicked off her live touring at the top of the summer when she performed both nights of the Bamboozle festival in New Jersey. Spin ranked her performance as one of the Top 11 Best Moments and said of her set "...no one drew bigger crowds..." Ke$ha then headed to her hometown of Nashville to perform at a benefit concert to support victims of the flood. Ke$ha traveled the U.S this summer on her first arena tour with Rihanna, kicking off in Los Angeles where the LA Times called her a "...very charismatic artiste..." and the New York Times called her performance "purely joyous". In August Ke$ha was a featured artist in the MTV VMA campaign , which included televised vignettes as well as her performance at an MTV VMA Lifebeat event with B.O.B. at the House of Blues in Los Angeles on the eve of the Video Music Awards. Ke$ha, who was a 4 time VMA nominee, closed out the MTV pre-show when she arrived at the awards in a Deloreon.
